Shipping

FedEx is closed on Monday, December 26^th and Tuesday, December 27^th. Our first scheduled pick up will be for Wednesday, December 28^th. Please note that our pick up volume on this particular day will be quite substantial. Your order is not guaranteed to be picked up on the 28^th as the truck will be over capacity. Any orders which are not picked up on the 28^th will certainly be picked up on the 29^th.

FedEx will be again closed on Monday, January 2^nd, with the first pick up in the New Year set for Tuesday, January 3^rd.

 

Austin Air

Austin Air will continue to operate typical business hours Monday – Friday although we feel it is important to provide one last reminder about their impending price increases for January 1^st.

 

Green Sleep

Green Sleep will be closed from Friday, December 23^rd until Tuesday, January 10^th. The first orders after the holiday will ship out from Green Sleep on Wednesday, January 18^th.

 

St. Geneve

St. Geneve will be closed from Saturday, December 24^th. They reopen on Monday, January 2^nd.

Fine-feathered frauds

In the animal world, the closest thing to gold may be the fluffy underfeathers of the eider duck. The down, which female eiders pluck from their breasts to line their nests, is typically only found in parts of Iceland, Greenland and islands in the St. Lawrence River, and its warmth, softness and rarity make it a coveted filling for duvets—so much so that it costs $1,000 per pound. A TRADITION

There is an old Scandinavian tradition. When a woman married, her parents would give the couple a new down filled duvet and pillows which would have been made by her mother. Part of this tradition had the mother sewing a new coin into the duvet before the final finishing, for good luck all of their days. When we make a duvet, we do the same thing. Abyss & Habidecor Delivery Times

Each summer Abyss & Habidecor provide their employee’s the opportunity to vacation while the weather in Europe is optimal. This year, the last day for ordering prior to shutdown is July 18th. Orders received by this date will arrive here in Canada approximately August 10th. The next order will be placed August 16th for arrival here in Canada approximately September 7th.

The Mattress & Sleep Company tries our best to keep in stock as many popular items as is possible. Abyss Super Pile is typically stocked in White, Ecru, Sage, Dusty Blue, Rose and Metal.

Canada Day Hours

Woohoo, Canada Day is upon us! The Mattress & Sleep Company will be open on July 1, although with shorter hours. We’ll be here from 11 am to 5 pm MT (1 pm to 7 pm ET). Feel free to stop by and visit if you’re in Edmonton. Our Toll-Free (1-877-750-1212) will also be operational during this same time.

Green Sleep Summer Shutdown

Green Sleep’s annual summer shutdown takes place this year from July 31^st until August 15^th. Any orders received by The Mattress & Sleep Company before 12 noon MT / 2 pm ET on Wednesday, July 20^th will still ship out prior to the shutdown. Any orders received after this time will be scheduled for production once Green Sleep returns in mid-August, for shipment starting from Friday, August 22^nd.

 

Wesley Allen Updates!

As briefly mentioned back in April, Wesley Allen made some of the largest changes to their product selection in the 15+ years which we have worked with them. While it is sad to see many loved finishes and beds go, we welcome in many new beds and some vibrant new colours.

Buying a Wesley Allen bed is often times an emotional purchase. It is not uncommon to carefully consider the bed of your dreams. For those who are on the path to this very bed, we offer you a comprehensive guide to all of the changes for 2011. We’ll start with the good stuff!

Pricing Changes
Five popular custom finishes have now moved into the standard finish category. This means these finishes are now $146 less than they were before! The finishes include Aged Iron, Aged Nickel, Brass Bisque, Golden Bisque and Rustic Ivory.

Several beds decreased in price including the Wesley Allen Quati, which had a rather significant drop. The Twin Quati was lowered by over $300!

Discontinued Beds
The following beds have been discontinued and will not be available for order after June 1st: Benson, Franklin, Lugano, Acacia, Amherst, Aniston, Banfield, Caprio, Cardiff, Carlisle, Catalan, Croft, Dorset, Fairfax II, Granada, Granville, Greenwich, Hewitt, Ipanema, Jasper, Korbel, Malibu, Medford, Modena, Napoli, Regal, Serenade, Springfield, Summit, Toledo, Valencia, Yale.

Discontinued Finishes
Several of these finishes were relatively recent introductions which didn’t quite take off while others have been around for many years and it is merely time to say good-bye!

Shopping basket updated

We’ve made some changes to the shopping basket and we’re excited to share these with you. The coolest new feature is a “Save to Email” option. Let’s say you’re on your smartphone and you’d rather finish your purchase at home on your computer. All you need to do is pop in your email address and click ‘Save’. We’ll shoot you a quick email and save your basket contents for 72 hours. Then when you’re home you simply click the link in the awaiting email from us, enter your email address on the basket page and your shopping basket contents from your earlier browsing are automatically uploaded.

Pretty slick. But that’s not all!

We have now also streamlined the basket content. If you need to remove an item or update the quantity you simply tick the boxes to delete or change the quantity. When done click ‘Update Basket’ and it’s all done quick and easy. No more updating or removing individual items one at a time.
